IMPORTANCE OF ACCURACY Accurate measurements are essential
for shutters to fit properly. Be sure to use a quality steel tape. Measure
all windows, even though they may appear to be identical. When specifying
measurements, state width first and then height. All measurements should
be in inches and measured to an accuracy of 1/1 6th of an inch. For
outside mounts, measurements should be finished.
Outside Mount with Traditional/ Classic Frame and Casing at Least 2
1/2" Wide A. Measure the width from outside casing to
outside casing at the top, middle, and bottom of the window opening.
Record the largest measurement. B. Measure the height from
outside casing to outside casing at the left, center, and right of the
window opening. Record the largest measurement. Your ordered
measurements will be the finished size of the shutter including the
frame.
Outside Mount with Traditional/ Classic Frame and Casing
less than 2 1/2" Wide or No Casing We suggest removing the casing,
however the frame can still be mounted on a smaller molding. It will
overlap the molding, therefore needing a spacer strip to cover the gap on
the sides. A. Measure the width inside the opening at the top,
middle, and bottom. B. Measure the height inside the opening at
the left, center, and right. C. Add 5 1/4" (2 5/8" per side) to
the largest width and largest height measurements. This provides a 1/4"
reveal around the window. If a greater reveal is required, please specify.
Your ordered measurements will be the finished size of the shutter
including the frame.
Outside Mount with Casing

Outside Mount with No Casing

Outside mount with Squareness Frame (French Door) A. Measure the width inside the
opening at the top, middle, and bottom. B. Measure the height
inside the opening at the left, center, and right. C. Add 1 7/8"
(15/16" per side] to the largest width and largest height measurements.
This provides a 1/4" reveal around the window. If a greater reveal is
required, please specify. Your ordered measurements will be the finished
size of the shutter including the squareness frame. |
Inside Mount with Squareness or Z-Frame Inside mounts pose
an added degree of difficulty due to several factors. Cranks, latches,
depth, and squareness of the window opening must be considered. For inside
mounts, all measurements should be tight, and measured to the nearest
1/16". A. Measure the width inside the opening at the top,
middle, and bottom. Record the smallest measurement. B. Measure
the height inside the opening at the left, center, and right. Record the
smallest measurement. C. To determine squareness measure
diagonally from top left to bottom right and from top right to bottom
left. If the measurements are not equal, consider specifying greater
deductions than standard.
Your ordered measurements are the tight size of the window from which
deductions will be taken, standard deductions are 1/8" from ordered width
and height. Note: If the two measurements vary more than 1/2" you should
consider an outside mount application.
Diagonal Measurement

Deductions Made For Inside Mounts
WITH SQUARENESS FRAME AND Z-FRAME: Rubber flex
around Squareness Frame will cover up to 1/4" of deviation when installed
flush with front wall of window or casing. *Designer Flex around
Squareness Frame will cover up to 7/8" of deviation (Deco Flex will cover
1/2" of deviation) when installed flush with front wall of window casing.
Decorative frame on the Z-Frame will cover up to 1 " of deviation per side
when installed.
PANELS ONLY WITH NO FRAME: SMALLEST WIDTH -(3/16" X Num.
Panels across) SMALLEST HEIGHT ? 3/16" Due to the lack of frame,
small light gaps will exist around the edges of the panels. *Note: the
above deductions are industry standards. If you feel you may require
different deductions, you must specify at the time of placing your
order.
Minimum Mounting Depths - Z-frame, 2 3/8" louvers: 1
3/8" - Z-frame, 3 3/8" louvers: 1 7/8" - Squareness frame, 2 3/8"
louvers: 1 - Squareness frame, 3 3/8" louvers: 1 1/2"
Add 7/8" to these minimum depth requirements if the Calypso or Seaview
tilt bar will be located on the rear of the shutter. Also add the
dimension required to clear any obstructions to louver movement, such as
window cranks or latches. Note that the squareness frame will protrude
from the window opening at the minimum depths listed.
Frame Inside Mount Deductions If different deductions than
the 1/8" standard are required for framed inside mounted shutters, you
must specify those deductions when placing your order.
Inside Mount with No Frame Very accurate measurements are
critical for this application. For proper fit, record width and height to
the nearest 1/16". Follow the same measuring procedures (steps A, B, and
C) as shown on the previous page for inside mounts with squareness or
Z-frames. When determining squareness of the opening, if the diagonal
measurements are not equal, framed shutters should be strongly considered.
Important: If no frame is used, small light gaps will exist
around the edges of the panels. Your ordered measurements are the tight
size of the window from which deductions will be taken. Standard
deductions 3/16" for single panels off both width and
height. |
